as a child thierry holweck studied ten years of classical piano. he graduated from the music program at the university of literature and art in montpellier france ; he then studied for two years at the roger charles music school in aix-en-Provence. he remembers the final souvenir from schoolmaster roger charles, a sentence on the last day of class : “now you are a musician. iIf you want to be an artist, you have to forget everything you’ve learned during all these years.” thierry began his artistic career as the singer/guitarist for the noisy punk/pop band garlic frog diet. thierry worked with GFD on two albums released on FNAC/semetary records, a major french label. based in lyon, france, thierry decided then to develop his own musical ideas. during the many hours he’d spent in the van with GFD, touring, the sound-guy would listen to a lot of techno. thierry developed his own taste and love for this music, which he found more rebellious and, initially, underground than rock. He decided to buy some old synthesizers and learn how to use them. his goal was not to imitate the other electro artists but to create his own material with signature energy and drawing on his stage experience from many years of performing. thus, severin 24’s live sets are not limited to turning knobs. in 2002 thierry began recording as severin 24. He worked with the voice of a girl named josie, a five year old daughter of a friend in minneapolis, to compose one of the songs. the piece was recorded and completed in an hour and sent to josie as a christmas present. a drummer friend (PLP) of thierry’s heard this song, called free chicken, and said “whoa, let’s go to the recording studio. i want to play on it, and then you should put it on your cd.” free Chicken became the second track of severin 24’s first record “teepee”. at the time thierry was in love with a girl in minneapolis, so he decided to send the cd to all the radio stations in the area to surprise her by having her hear his song on the radio. he himself was surprised when free chicken became the most requested song and a top ten hit for months on radio k, the core of minneapolis college radio. this began severin 24’s career in the united States, even before his european invasion. thierry’s goal is not only limited to being his best artistically but to visit and experience different cultures and people. releases:
